If you’re wanting to learn how to get slimmer legs without getting bulky, then you’re in the right place.
Achieving slim, yet toned legs can be attainable with some strategies set in place.
However, do remember that having a healthy body is most important here, and “slim” is subjective. Meaning your version of slim, can differ from someone else’s, and thats ok. Every body shape is beautiful in it’s own way, so please be sure not to compare your figure to anyone else.
In this post I’m going to help guide you on how to get slimmer legs without getting them bulky.
I want you to feel confident, and amazing wearing those short shorts, summer dresses, and those cute bikinis this year.
So let’s not waste anytime, and get right into these helpful tips.
1. Cardio
Yes girl, cardio is an essential piece of the puzzle to achieve slimmer legs, but there is a little bit of a method to it.
But first let me remind you that everyone’s body type is different, therefore we can react to cardio training sometimes a bit differently from one another.
What works for one body type, might not necessarily work for another type. So let’s start here, what body type are are you?
They’re 3 basic Body Types ( which one best describes you?)
- Ectomorph – Tends to be thin, have lean build, and struggles to gain weight, and main goal is more often to put on some muscular weight.
- Mesomorph – Relatively average, thin joints with wide clavicle, athletic build. Can lose fat or gain muscle with ease.
- Endomorph – Tends to gain weight, and keep it on. Wider build, thick rib cage, and wide hips. Although they may have more muscle then either ectomorph or mesomorphs, its hard for them to lean out.
Knowing your body type can better help determine how much cardio you may need to be doing in oder to get slimmer legs.
For those who struggle more to lose weight, or find it easy to gain muscle you may need to incorporate more cardio. Whereas someone who has an ectomorph body type like myself, may not have to do much cardio as they already have thin legs.
In short, this does not mean doing boring or endless cardio for hours on in. It can also simply be adding this in to your daily routine, and a simple 20-30 min. walk, barre class, or light jog with the dogs could help do the trick.
You could even break this up throughout your day, and do 15 min power walk in the mornings, and another in the mid-day and/or evening time. Overall it’s about staying consistent, which will have a big impact towards achieving your lean legs.

Moreover, remember that power walking offers many benefits, and it puts less stress on the joints, and body. Along with improving circulation, mobility, and enhances mood.
All of which reduce stress, thus keeping your cortisol level low. All of which will make weight loss much easier to achieve.
Depending on your current fitness level, a great place to start with cardio training:
- Ectomorphs – 15-20 minutes 2x weekly
- Mesomorph – 20-30 minutes 3x weekly
- Endomorphs– – 20-30 minutes 4-5x weekly
2. Have a strategic Workout Plan
What do I mean by this?
When wanting to accomplish a slimmer, thinner leg appearance without getting too much of a muscular bulky look, you want to ensure you are training properly.
Firstly, it’s important to know that you can not spot reduce fat. Meaning there is no magical way to instantly slim your legs. In other words, just working out your lower body is not going to allow you to attain slimmer legs.
Therefore, it is imperative to focus on either doing full body workouts, splitting upper & lower, or hitting different body parts throughout the week. This will allow a balanced physique, and a balanced training regimen.
There are different phases of training, and I believe each phase can be necessary for overall physical fitness needs. But, since our goal here is to accomplish slimmer legs, let’s just keep it simple, and focus on the endurance/strength phase a bit.
Part of this phase in training is to challenge, and mix in both high intensity, and strength training. Allowing your body to create a lean, yet strong physique.

- HIIT Workouts
- Yoga
- Ballet/Barre

3. Nutrition Will Optimize Your Body
There is no amount of cardio, or workouts that will beat bad nutritional habits. Period.
I share this with you because, I want you to succeed, and in order to do so you must know the power that eating healthy has on optimizing your body to feel, and look your best.
Remember, food can still be enjoyable. There are so many healthy alternatives on the market for you to choose from nowadays that will still allow you to eat clean without feeling deprived.
In order to achieve a leaner appearance in your legs, and have a healthier body in general.. It’s essential to begin adding in healthier foods to your life 70-80% of the time.
As you begin to make this simple transition you will begin to see amazing changes in your body. You will look slimmer, feel more energized, and optimized your body like never before.
Prepare yourself for success, and moreover remember that this is a lifestyle not just a quick fix. You want to sustain this leaner, and healthier body you’re creating, right?
4. Exfoliating & Massage
OMG Yes! If you want to reveal glowy skin on your legs, and rid of any cellulite, or unwanted marks on your legs, then you must try this hack.
Exfoliating, and massage will help stimulate the lymphatic system and increases circulation of oxygen “blood flow” to an area, more oxygen-rich blood can then flow to nourish the skin.
Exfoliation itself, helps keeps dead skin away and allow new skin cells to surface, thus creating more beautiful yet glowy radiant legs!
I recommend exfoliating legs/body 1-2x per week, and getting a massage 1x a month if possible.
Lastly, I also highly recommend getting a foam roller for your legs too (if you can’t get a monthly massage.) Doing this a few times a week at home can really help to increase circulation, and release any knots built up with toxins.

5. Self Tan
One of my favorite things to do is self tan, it literally can make you feel like a bronzed goddess!
Hands down one of the easiest, yet best ways to make you look instantly thinner is to self tan.
