Natural remedies to lose weight.
Let’s be honest, they’re 2 major, yet obvious ways to lose weight naturally..
I highly recommend starting there first, because there’s no quick fix that will shy away from doing those 2 things first! Eating Healthy, and Working Out are the major pieces to the weight loss puzzle. Be sure to start there, and add these other tips in overtime to help.
So let’s dive into the other 5 helpful ways to execute the weight loss process naturally.
1. Eat Volumous Foods
When we eat nutrient dense volumous foods, this allows our stomach to expand, and we releases a hormone called leptin which tells our brain we are full.
Eating volumous foods first like vegetables, dark greens, and water filled fruits like watermelon will help you to naturally consume less calories, because you will be satiated with these dense yet low calorie options first.
For example, enjoying a small salad before eating the rest of your meal, filling up a majority of your plate with greens, or enjoying watermelon, pineapple, or grapefruit before you eat the rest of your breakfast/lunch.
This has worked for me, so I know it can work for you. It is one of the best natural remedies to lose weight.
2. Eat Slowly
Did you know that digestion starts in your mouth? It does..
Eating slowly allows you to thoroughly chew your food, leading to better digestion. Since digestion actually starts in your mouth, then the more work we do there, the less work your digestive system will have to do later.
Slow down, enjoy your food.
3. Drink Tons Of Water
Drinking tons of water can actually make you feel full as well.
When we drink enough water we actually can expand our stomachs enough to satiate it making us feel full, and again our bodies will release the hormone leptin making us feel full.
For added boost of digestion, and weight loss benefits add lemon, grapefruit, and/or cucumber. These 3 offer a plethora of vitamins and minerals, great for your gut health.
Simple Water Recipes:
- Lemon, Cucumber Water
- Mint Leaves, Lemon Water
- Blueberry, Lemon Water
- Mint, Cucumber Water
- Add in your favorite tea bag to any water for an easier approach. I love adding green tea, ginger, or a blended tea mix to my water, as it gives it another fun twist on flavor.
4. Intermittent Fasting
This is literally one of my favorite ways to execute weight loss.
Intermittent fasting is basically a window of which you consume food/calories, and a window in which you fast.
Eating less often, is a great way to allow your body to keep insulin levels in your body low. Allowing you to use more fat for energy.
Many people don’t know that when insulin in your body is high, that fat burning cannot take place at the same time.
So allowing your body to go a little while without consuming any calories, can really benefit you in the weight loss process naturally.
I personally do the 16:8 method. Allowing my body to fast for 16 hours, and only eat in an 8 hour window. This method is one of the most popular ways to execute intermittent fasting.
Doing the 16:8 method makes it simple, safe and sustainable.
5. Cut Out Added Sugar
( This One Takes Discipline)
Sugar consumption is a major cause of weight gain, and obesity in the U.S. It’s nearly the root cause of many health issues beside stress.
While natural sugars from fruit, grains, and some dairy are a healthy source of nutrients. It’s the added sugars that are the problem.
Added sugars are simple carbohydrates, meaning they’re calories with empty nutrient value.
Added sugars go into your blood stream right away, spike insulin, and then cause you to crash soon after..leaving you craving it again.. it’s a viscous cycle.
A cycle that will have you headed to many health issues, and major weight gain.
How to slowly cut out added sugars from nutrition plan:
- Strive to eat whole foods
- Stay away from pre packaged, and processed foods
- Read ingredients
- Consume more healthy fats (will help keep insulin low, suppressing cravings) – olive oil, avocado oil, avocados, nuts, coconut oil.
