Boost your mood for the holidays.
Feeling stuck in a rut, and somewhat like the grinch this year?
It’s no doubt that many have suffered from a challenging year with the pandemic taking over 2020. Now with the holidays here it seems not everyone is in the jolly spirit.
With so much happening in 2020 it could be easy to get caught up in the negativity if you allow it. We choose to see what we want, and we choose how we react to what we see.
I want to share practical, and simple ways on how to boost your mood for the holidays this year. So you can stop being a grinch, and start enjoying the season.
1. Be Grateful You’re Here.
Instead of focusing on what’s around outside of you.. Focus on yourself being here, in this moment, alive, and breathing.
Enjoy this precious moment, and the season that is, because you will never get this time back again. Focus on being present in the now, feeling so grateful that you survived this past year.
You’re healthy, you have a roof over your head, food in the pantry, and fresh air to breathe.
Remember that not everyone survived this year, but you did. You are still living your life on this planet, so make the best of it.
2. Be Thankful for Your Family, & Friends.
Embrace those family, and friends that are in your life. Be grateful that they are still alive, and here on this earth.
We have one life, and only so much time to share it with them.
Stop spending your time unhappy, and being MR. or MRS. grinch. Instead share love, laughter, and joy with those friends, and family members around.
This can really help boost mood during the holidays.
3. Get Out & Smell The Roses.
Go smell the roses literally. Studies have shown that smelling certain flowers will help to enhance mood.
Which is why it is no secret that many perfumes have a slight sweet smell of specific flowers added to them, thus setting the mood, and tone of our day or evening.
Roses have such a heavenly smell that is sure to boost your mood, along with Lillies which are one of the most powerful smelling flowers do to it’s sweetness.
Lavender has a lushes calming sent of it’s own, and so do orchids. They both offer lovely scents that calm the nerves, and refresh the mind.
4. Soak Up Some Sun.
Natural light from the sun is known to give us vitamin D, increase the release of serotonin in our brain, fight off depression, and boost immune system. (just be sure to wear SPF!)
The release of serotonin itself is said to enhance mood, and help people feel calm and focused.
When the sun helps us to release vitamin D, allowing the body to create stronger bones, and better immune systems. Just 30 min. of sunlight a day could really benefit your mood, and your body in multiple ways.
5. Read A Self Improvement Book.
This is one of my favorite things to do, especially on a cloudy, or rainy day.
Reading self improvement books will help you to challenge yourself, learn something new that will enhance yourself, and overall boost your confidence.
When we challenge ourselves, and become competent in other areas of our lives we feel good about ourselves. When we feel good about ourselves, we express more love, and joy with the world.
Grab a self improvement book, and get to reading.
6. Move Your Beautiful Body.
Sitting around in the house is not helping you out. Lack of movement causes lack of blood flow throughout your body, and lack of blood flow causes a plethora of health issues both physically, and mentally.
It is hard for your body to fully function properly without proper blood flow circulation. When we sit all day, or become more sedentary it slows down the circulation of blood in our system making it harder to pump oxygen, nourish and repair cells, and could cause blood clots.
Lack of movement also creates tight muscles, aches, and pains in your body.
A quick 20 min walk, workout, yoga stretch or dance could really enhance your well-being.
7. Listen To Upbeat Music.
I understand that not everyone love listening to Christmas music as much as I do, but I take full advantage of listening to when it’s on the radio because it makes me feel good.
Music overall can really improve your mindset, boost your mood, and emotions. Music is made to move your soul.
Select music that you know brings positive memories, feel good mood vibes, or that will calm your nerves.
I also personally love going on YouTube and finding relaxing mood enhancing beats like 432hz, upbeat sounds, chill ambiance music, or whatever makes me feel good and focused on the positive.
Time To Feel Good This Season.
