It’s time to rev up your metabolism before the holidays get here, and keep that unwanted weight gain away.
They’re a few ways to execute this process so you’re a burning machine this season.
What is metabolism? It’s a process in which our cells change the food we eat into energy we need to function.
They’re 2 processes of the metabolism:
- Catabolism: The breakdown of food components such as proteins, carbs, and fats into a simpler form which can then be used to provide energy.
- Anabolism: The building up aspect of the metabolism. Utilizing the energy from food for building and repairing.

Now let’s dive into how we can boost our metabolism before the holidays!
Build Muscle
Muscle tissue actually uses more energy than fat tissue does.
Having more muscle tissue allows you to burn more calories even at rest also known as your BMR (Basil Metabolic Rate)
This is often why some men have faster metabolisms then women, because they have more lean muscle mass.
Working out in general burns calories, so if you train to put on more muscle you can continue to burn calories even when you’re not at the gym.
Muscle tissue is dense, whereas fat takes up more of a circumference, so don’t be afraid to gain some muscle tissue. It will make you look smaller, give you a more defined look, and increase your metabolic rate.
Caffeine Intake
Caffeine is a natural thermogenic, and can increase the rate of which we burn calories.
Coffee, green tea, and black tea are great resources to get your caffeine from.
Green tea specifically also offers EGCG, a good source of antioxidants which are responsible for lowing any inflammation in the body. Inflammation can inhibit the metabolism because your body is unable to function properly when in an inflamed state.
However your body can sometimes build up a tolerance when consuming too much caffeine on a regular basis. Be careful not to overdo it all the time.

Keep Track Of Calories
This can be tricky, but once you have a basic understanding as to why, it will become simple, and easy to adhere to.
Firstly, many people are consuming too many calories, and not getting enough activity/exercise throughout the day, therefore, you’re not using up those calories for energy. The over abundance of calories, when not used for energy, can get stored as fat.
Therefore, keeping on eye on your food intake would benefit thyself by ensuring you do not consume too much food on a regular basis, if your activity level does not match.
On the contrary however, too little of calories for too long, can also have a negative effect on our metabolism by slowing it down.
In tracking your calories on an app, can easily save you time, stress, and extra pounds.
After all, we want to ensure we keep our metabolism up, and nourishing the body with the right amount of calories is super beneficial.

Whole Foods
When eating whole food sources it makes it easier, and more readily available for our body to use for energy. Moreover, we get the added benefit of the nutrients, and minerals these foods offer.
Whereas processed, and refined sugary foods are not only empty calories, but they get stored as fat more often than not.
Whole foods keep our bodies functioning at optimal level, thus giving us more energy to use, and burn.
In contrast too much refined foods make us feel sluggish, and overtime can make our bodies insulin resistant.
Bottom line, is to strive to eat whole foods more often to keep that metabolism of yours running at optimal level.

Spice Up Your Life
Certain herbs, and spices can temporarily increase metabolic rate as they also play a role in acting as a natural thermogenic.
Spices like cayenne pepper, and jalapeños contain a compound called capsaicin, which stimulates your body to release adrenaline, speeding up your metabolism in short term, thus increasing your ability to burn more calories!

HGH is an essential component of our well being, as it promotes healthy muscle, and bone mass, while working to regulate metabolism. The release of HGH happens when we’re in the “deep sleep” phase of our sleep cycle.
Overall get a good night sleep to keep your metabolism going strong.
